Male Pattern Baldness Female Hair Loss

You may be noticed that your hair is thinning, and your case of hair loss might be much more acute than some of your friends or co-workers, even those who may be much older than you. Why is that?

You are not alone. Whenever men start to experience balding, hair thinning, or definite hair loss, it is a time of emotional distress and social discomfort. Although hair loss in women is not nearly as common, it still happens, and contains an ever greater negative social stigma.

Those who are in the hair loss situation are always looking for hair loss treatments, something that will stem the tide of hair loss and perhaps even promote hair growth again. Unfortunately, everybody is created differently with different body and chemistry makeups, and there is no magic pill that will work for all. But with that said, there are many effective and proven hair loss treatments and remedies that can work for you and are certainly worthy of giving them a try.

Science has come a long way in the journey to help us better understand and treat male and female hair loss, and it is important to arm yourself with enough information to make a smart and educated choice about the right solution for you and your particular hair loss circumstances.

In the US alone, over 35 million men, and 16 million women suffer from the pattern baldness (Androgenic Alopecia) form of hair loss, and of those, more than 40% experience noticeable loss by the age of 35, with more than 65% reporting moderate to high loss by the age of 60.

The role of DHT, and its effect on the hair follicle is now widely considered one of the prime factors in the hair loss process, which is why some types of DHT blockers are very popular in the marketplace. Hormone replacement therapies have been proven to be very effective at stopping hair loss for many people, and in some, it is even responsible for promoting new hair growth.

Do not expect it to happen overnight. You did not lose your hair overnight and stopping the pattern of hair loss and/or promoting new hair growth is not going to happen overnight either. But with the right product for your body chemistry, hair loss can be stopped and perhaps even new hair growth begun!

Women’s Hair Loss

Losing a bit of hair on a daily basis is not unusual for either men or women, and hair loss can be attributed to many different factors. In women for example, the seasons can affect hair loss because of the seasonal changes in the weather. Doctors and dermatologists have explained that during the colder winter months, about 95% of your hair follicles are growing on an active basis and only about 5% are shedding. But by contrast, especially in the warmer summer months, women experience hair loss more noticeably, losing more hair strands than their male counterparts in the same age group.

Sometimes women can experience hair loss due to a condition known as alopecia. This rarely results in total baldness but can be embarrassing, especially in younger women from an emotional and social point of view. For many women, their hair can be part of their overall definition, being a part of their personality, their persona, and basically a major part of who they are.

The good news is that there are several effective hair loss treatment programs available for both men and women. For some women with an acute female hair loss affliction, there are surgical steps that can be taken to stop and treat female hair loss and stop or prevent total baldness. Whereas baldness is generally accepted for men, it is considered not very attractive for women.

There are also creams and medications that can help, but be careful before sinking too much money into these. Many of these creams and medications that are supposed to stop womens hair loss are very dependent on your particular body chemistry and may have little to no results for you. The good news is that they will usually not cause any harm or detriment, but if you are facing a woman’s hair loss condition, you want something that works, not something that has no effect on it.
